Today, after coming out of the shower, i received a call from a close friend, poch. She normally doesn’t contact me first unless it’s important. By the tone of her voice, i could sense she was in distress. She asked whether i had our college yearbook nearby, and whether it contained contacts. It didn’t. She asked if i had checked facebook lately, and this was to my surprise as she had long deactivated her account. She then dropped her bestfriend’s name, Crystal Padilla, who i had i known through her. And suddenly it made sense, she had moved to CDO after graduation. Just the night before i was going through articles and photos of the disaster brought by Sendong, but it had never occurred to me that Crystal would be involved.

Poch directly went to Crystal’s old house here in manila to confirm. And while I was at church, i received a text from her saying, “wala na siya.” It was so surreal.

I will never her animated character. How i would love to watch her and poch live in their own world together. We’ll miss you, Crystal.
